Acupuncture is a medical treatment which originates from Traditional Chinese medicine. It is a technique used by Practioners in the outpatient orthopedic setting to balance the flow of energy known as Qi, which flows through pathways within the body. A person's movement, strength and overall health is influenced by the quantity, quality and balance of Qi. When Qi is disrupted or out of balance, it can manifest itself as pain, swelling, weakness, tingling or impaired function. By inserting fine needles into specific points within these pathways known as meridians, Qi can be balanced allowing the body to heal itself. It is a safe, non-invasive treatment for a variety of conditions including:

  • Neck,back and joint pain
  • Weakness(i.e.VMO,glut medius, scapula,RC complex, deep neck flexors, transverse abdominis, foot arch)
  • Numbness/Tingling (i.e. sciatica, shoulder impingement, carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, spinal nerve root)
  • Instability ( i.e. meniscal/ACL strain, ATFL/deltoid ligament strain, lack of proprioception, vestibular dysfunction)
  • Headaches (i.e. suboccipital tension, upper fiber trap strain, poor posture, TMJ, Whiplash)
  • Muscle strains (i.e. paraspinals, trapezius, rhomboid, hamstring, quadriceps, rotator cuff)
  • Temporomandibular pain
  • Muscle strains (i.e. paraspinals, trapezius, rhomboid, hamstring, quadriceps, rotator cuff)
  • Ligament sprains (i.e. ATFL, CFL, MCL, LCL, ACL, AC joint, TFCC, hip or shoulder labrum)
  • Repetitive movement sprains (golfers elbow, tennis elbow, De Quervains, shin splints)
  • Disc Herniation
  • SIJ pathology (i.e. ligament strain, instability, Posterior/Anterior Innominate rotation)
  • Bursitis (i.e. greater trochanter, popliteal, subacromial, retroacalcaneous, olecranon)
  • Foot pain (i.e. Plantar fasciitis, pes planus, achilles tendonitis, fat pad irritation)
